Matthew 11:28-30

This is where I let go,
Of every weight anchoring my downfalls.
I heed to the voice of God
As He speaks peace
Into my inner ear,
I cry out for insight
And ask for understanding.
Because His wisdom
Is what I need
In letting go…

Like pedals flowing through mid air,
I toss my thoughts to heaven.
He grasps hold of me.
Knowing that my fragile heart
Is vulnerable to love.
He fills every shattered void.
My spirit prances in the wind
As He dances over me with joyful songs.
I crash into the waves
As He washes me white as snow.

And I know that I’m not alone,
So Jesus makes His presence known
As He covers me with His love.
He is the companion that sticks closer than a brother.
He is the peace in the home of my heart.
He is my Provider, my Sustainer, my Rock.
He is my husband that embraces me.
He is my Lord, my God, my King…
He tells me…
To let go…

As I am sitting amongst this gorgeous view, I suddenly began singing,
“It’s no over. It’s not finished. Its not ending. It’s only the beginning. If God is in it, all things are new…”
This song by James Fortune just flowed through my spirit. I inhaled and exhaled as I reflected on this moment of time, space, and what the future beholds.

My main focus for this moment is letting go. I realized that in order for me to obtain all of what God has for me, I must let go of what is occupying the space He wants to fill. I have to get to the root of every circumstance. I thought that I had removed a few things from my life. However, I am finding thoughts about it come back to mind.

I took this time today to relax, to restrain from all business, worry, fear, obligations, or whatever else that may plot to attack my faith. I just simply told myself to let it go”. I fought back against my own thoughts – disciplining my mind to stay out of the past. I stood for change ,to embrace the womanhood I am developing into. I accepted my new beginning, whatever that may be, whenever it may occur. I just simply said from the bottom of my heart, “Yes, Lord! I want all of you and nothing else! Fill me up!”
I sat amongst the ocean, gazed at the gigantic waves, and embraced the beauty of the light of the Lord. I read Revelation 21 and 22. I mainly remember the New Jerusalem that is to come and the Illumination of the Lord. I received that we are living in a time where God is making aware His promise to create a new earth. He is gathering His people like a groom welcomes his bride. As if He is calling us to become more intimate with Him. I also received that the light of the Lord outshines all darkness. The light of the Lord is so powerful that no sunlight is needed to see Him because God is light! As I was sitting in prayer, I glanced at the light shining upon the water. It was too bright for my eyes to remain open. To me, the water represented His transparent purity. The rays of His light holds such a powerful reflection that washes our sins away.

I arose from my place of comfort and walked upon the shore. I rejoiced as I saw how huge the waves roared over each other. The waves were clear, beautiful, and appeared to be perfect enough to keep me from drowning. This was my moment of cleansing in letting go of every weight of burdens. This was my moment to cleanse my body, mind, and spirit from all filth. This was my moment to receive the new season that God is calling me to. This was my intimate moment with Jesus. It seemed as if He was the waves gently playing with me in the water. He knew just how to put a smile on my face. He knew that I would be like a kid on the beach. I didn’t feel alone at all. It seemed as if He was with me the entire time. I had nothing to fear.
The beauty in letting go is this: Acknowledging that Jesus is with you. When you let go of every ounce of pain from the past, worry about the future, or fear of the unknown, Jesus steps in to fill that place. A great example would be the restoration process when you give blood. Whenever you give blood, the nurse uses a needle to draw blood from your vein. Now that the blood is released from you, you have to remain hydrated. So, you will need fluid to restore your hydration. Most times you are given a drink that contains sugar or electrolytes.

Analogy of Letting Go

Your moment of letting go is just like the process of you giving blood:

  • The blood released = Your worries of the future, fear of the unknown, oppression of burdens, abuse, addictions, confusion, etc. This is anything that is keeping you bound from embracing freedom, joy, love, and positivity in your life.
  • The needle = Jesus removing the filth in your heart
  • The hydration = Jesus Himself – the word of God, His love, purity, discipline, companionship, creativity. This is everything that you feel your are missing within you.

In order to understand this process, you have to have faith like a child. In other words, change your perspective of how you see God and BELIEVE in Him. Ask Jesus to come into your heart, believe He is with you, remove all doubt, and believe He is with you every step of the way.

How to Let Go

Here is a step by step process that I will explain to the best of my ability:

  1. Believe in your heart that Jesus is with you and what His word says is true.
  2. Be quick to listen, slow to speak. Get into a quiet place and close your eyes. Lay on your back or sit in stable position.
  3. Breathe. Inhale deeply and exhale deeply to release all stress.
  4. Speak life. Your mind will venture off into negativity again. So continuously speak positivity over yourself out loud.
Ex: If you hear, “Jesus isn’t real”…say, “Jesus is real to me I know He is with me.” (John 14:20)
If you hear, “You will never amount to anything”…say, “I am more than a conqueror.” (Romans 8:38-39)
If you hear, “You are hated.”…say, “Jesus loves me. I am a daughter of the King. I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (John 3:16, Psalm 139:14, Romans 8:38-39)
If you hear, “I am not enough.”…say, “I am a child of God with a promised future.” (Jeremiah 29:11; Isaiah 55:8-9)
  5. Continue to keep finding scripture and positive affirmations on a daily basis.

If you truly want to see change in your life, then you have to truly believe in your heart that God loves you and wants the best for your life. You have to set your mind on positive intentions if you want to let go. No matter what anyone else says (mom, dad, brother, sister, or friends), speak life over yourself.

The reason why people go through depression is because of all of the weight they are containing in their spirit. All of the negative emotions must be released. LET IT GO! Leave it at the altar. Don’t be afraid to cry out to Jesus! Sometimes you have to shout. If you keep negativity in your heart, then you will remain negative in every circumstance. I am a living witness that Jesus will help you to let go of every weight you bare.

Remember: Matthew 11:28-30 – “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Letting Go of an Ex

If you are trying to get over an ex, Jesus is the one who will replace your loss. I know this may seem difficult to intake. I’ve been there before! I’ve been on the brink of getting married and then suddenly the relationship fell apart. I used to struggle with believing that Jesus is with me every time I saw couples around me. It was hard accepting my singlehood. But guess what. I learned to receive that I am single and one day I will be married. I just have to be patient.

It’s not easy holding your hormones until marriage. However, learning to tap into Jesus taught me to open my eyes to His presence every day. I went to the beach today and actually spent time with the Lord. I felt as though someone was communicating with me the entire time. As I walked in the water, I jumped through the waves. I laughed at myself each time the waves slammed against my body. I took pictures of the scenery. I read my bible. I prayed to the Lord. I kept telling Him how beautiful His creation is. I felt His joy amongst me and I smiled at everyone I saw. Once I embraced my moment of letting go, my awareness of God’s presence was sharpened. How? Because I acknowledged that He is truly with me. It lets me know that I have nothing to fear. He wouldn’t let me drown into despair. He wouldn’t allow my belongings to be stolen if I follow wherever He takes me. He wouldn’t allow some pervert to attack me because His hand is upon me. For all of this, I choose to follow the Lord and go wherever He takes me. He shows that even though I do not have a physical partner to ride along with me, He is and will always be with me as my King. This is why I love the Lord Jesus. I never knew that I would get to this point of knowing the Lord, to the point of loving myself for who I am. He is truly real to me, and it is my prayer that Jesus becomes real to you as well.
